applications:

Tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) is a good solvent for many organic compounds, and it is used in a variety of industrial and laboratory applications. TBA is also used to produce other chemicals, such as methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), which are used as gasoline additives.
