2-Ethylhexyl acetate is a clear, mobile solvent with low-volatility. It is a hydrophobic, relatively polar solvent with a high boiling point and a slight odor. It is miscible and compatible with all common solvents, e. g. alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, glycols, glycol ethers, and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons

2-Ethylhexyl acetate is used in many industries, including a variety of ink formulations, paint strippers, nitrocellulose lacquers, resin lacquers, and lacquer emulsions; it is a good solvent for standard enamels, baking enamels and air-dry enamels to improve flow and film formation. It is widely used as a leather industry solvent in dyeing and finishing functions, also aiding in film formation and flow. It may also be used in fragrance formulations.
