Dimethylethanolamine is a transparent, slightly yellow liquid. It is miscible with water, acetone, ether, and benzene.

Dimethylethanolamine is used as a curing agent for epoxy resins and polyurethanes. It is also used in the intermediate synthesis of dyestuffs, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and corrosion inhibitors. Another application is an emulsifier in paints and coatings.
