Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) is a light yellow solid and is an aromatic diisocyanate. It is soluble in acetone, benzene, kerosene, and nitrobenzene (monomer).
MDI is mainly used for bonding rubber to nylon and other adhesives. It is also used in the manufacture of lacquer coatings and in the production of polyurethane resins and spandex fibers.
