Dimethylamine (DMA) is a colorless, flammable gas with an ammonia-like odor. It is derived by a catalyst reaction between methanol and ammonia at high temperatures.


Dimethylamine is commonly encountered commercially as a solution in water at concentrations up to around 40%.

applications:

DMA is used as an acid-gas absorbent, a solvent for antioxidants, a flotation agent, a gasoline stabilizer, and as a reagent for magnesium. It is also used in dyes, textiles, rubbers, electroplating, pesticide, and cleaning compounds.
