Barium sulfate is a chemical compound with various industrial, medical, and commercial applications: 


- Medical: It is used as a contrast agent in X-rays of the digestive system and as a pigment in some medical products, such as ointments and creams. 

- Industrial: It is used as a pigment in paints, as a filler in rubber, plastics and paper. Also, it is used as a negative electrode material in lead-acid batteries.

- Other: Barium sulfate is used as a colorant in fireworks to produce green colors and is used as a fining agent in glass to improve its clarity and transparency.
